Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year: Marsala

Posted on December 4, 2014

Pantone officially announced their “Color of the Year” for 2015 and the winner is…Marsala!

Described as a “unifying element,” Pantone goes on to say that “the impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors.”

Our (Incorrect) Predictions

We did a li'l poll last week asking our creative staffers to guess what Pantone would pick as their coveted color of the year, and the award for closest guess goes to David, our web designer/developer who totally predicted that red would be making a comeback in the new year.

David's Prediction: Pantone 484

“Red will make a comeback in 2015!”

Jen's Prediction: Pantone 142

A shade of yellow hasn't won since 2009. And I'm painting the TV room in my new house this color next week…”

Jamie's Prediction: Pantone 5395

I think it will be a dark blue because we landed on a comet.

Mac's Prediction: Pantone 7709

Given everything going on with Bill Cosby, the NFL and our national history of domestic abuse…I’d love to see the “No More” blue be adopted as the pantone color of the year.

Katie's Prediction: Pantone 7688

Usually Sephora and Pantone team up… I would love to buy some nail polish in this color…maybe even eyeliner! Bold, daring and super-fun!
